Begin Your Application

Go to  and begin by filling out the Candidate Profile. The profile contains your basic personal information and is shared with Â鶹´«Ã½ and other schools to which you have elected to apply using Gateway. Once you have submitted your Candidate Profile you will receive an email from Â鶹´«Ã½ within 24 hours with login credentials for the Â鶹´«Ã½ applicant portal.

The application fee is $60 for all applicants, international and domestic. Fee waivers are available to all students intending to apply for financial aid through the payment screen in Gateway.

In your Â鶹´«Ã½ Applicant Portal, you will schedule your interview, submit the student essay and parent statement, and track your application status through decisions on March 10.

We want to get to know you: what you’re passionate about, your favorite activity, the last book you read, anything that helps us understand what you love to do. That’s why we require an interview for all applicants. You can choose how we’ll meet you including:

• In-person on our campus
• Online conversation
• Video submission – submit recorded responses to questions we supply.

Standardized Testing

School Codes: SAT and ISEE 300185; SSAT 5764; ACT 8174

For applicants to grade 9:

• Upper Level of the SSAT or ISEE is required.
• Results must be from tests taken no earlier than one year prior to the application deadline of January 15.
• Results must be sent directly to Â鶹´«Ã½ from the testing company using our school code. We will not accept test scores sent by an applicant.

For applicants to grade 10 and grade 11:

• ONE of the following tests is required: SSAT, ISEE, PSAT (NSMQT), SAT, PreACT, or ACT.
• For upper level of the SSAT or ISEE, results must be from tests taken no earlier than one year prior to the application deadline of January 15. Results must be sent directly to Â鶹´«Ã½ from the testing company using our school code.
• Results of PSAT (NMSQT), SAT, PreACT, or ACT must be from tests taken no earlier than one year prior to the application deadline of January 15. Results may be emailed to admit@exeter.edu or uploaded to the , or you may have your scores sent to us directly from the test company using our school code.

Grade 12 and Postgraduate applicants:

• ONE of the following tests is required: PSAT (NMSQT), SAT, PreACT or ACT.
• Results may be sent as part of the official school transcript or an official PDF of the score report can be emailed to admit@exeter.edu or uploaded to the , or you may have your scores sent to us directly from the test company using our school code.

English Proficiency Tests: While we strongly recommend the TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test for students who do not speak English as a primary language and haven’t been in an English-speaking school for the last two years, it is not a requirement of the application.

Test scores can be emailed to admit@exeter.edu or uploaded to the or you may have your test scores sent to us from the test company using Â鶹´«Ã½â€™s school code for TOEFL: 8128.

Character Skills Snapshot (optional)
Â鶹´«Ã½ will accept the  available as part of the SSAT, though it is not required. This assessment can be uploaded through your  or emailed to us at admit@exeter.edu.

Recommendations and Transcripts

You will request recommendations and school transcripts through .ÌýThis part of the application opens in October. Your school and your recommenders will receive an email from Gateway on your behalf with a link through which to send their materials.

• Principal/Counselor Recommendation: Ask for a recommendation from your current principal or guidance counselor and enter a contact email into Gateway.
• English and Math Recommendations: Ask for a recommendation from your current English and math teachers and enter their contact emails into Gateway.
• Personal Recommendation: Ask an adult (for example, an employer, a mentor or a family friend) to write on behalf of your character and community impact.
• Special Interest Recommendation (optional): Ask an adult (for example, an instructor or a coach) to write about particular interests or abilities which demonstrate your passion and commitment.
• Transcripts: Current and previous year transcripts (grade reports) must be sent directly from your school(s) (or a licensed translator) in English.
