Front Street dormitory named for alumnus and longtime Â鶹´«Ã½ supporter.
Front Street Dorm is now Guptill House, a fitting tribute to a lifetime of support for the Academy from a generous alumnus.
George H. Guptill ’57 has a long history of philanthropy to Â鶹´«Ã½, including support for students from his native Raymond, New Hampshire, to attend the Â鶹´«Ã½ Summer academic enrichment program and the significant donations to the Academy Music Department of his 1927 Model M Steinway piano and a commissioned . Guptill has given annually to the Academy since his graduation.
Guptill, who today lives in Â鶹´«Ã½, knows support for buildings and infrastructure is an institutional priority, and he relishes the opportunity for a former day student’s name to adorn one of the Academy’s dorms. The 150-year-old mansard-style mansion on Front Street, purchased by the Academy in 1969, is home to two dozen boarding students and six to eight day student affiliates each year.
